BEIJING, July 2, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- Tuesday, July 1, 2025, marks the 104th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China (CPC), as various activities including reviewing the oath of joining the CPC, education and cultural activities were being held across the country to inspire the Party members and the Chinese people of various ethnic groups to stay true to the original aspiration, hold on to the mission, and work hard to contribute to China's modernization and rejuvenation of Chinese nation.
A day before the founding anniversary of the CPC, Xi Jinping, general secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, presided over a group study session of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee. On behalf of the CPC Central Committee, Xi conveyed festive greetings to all Party members across the country, according to the Xinhua News Agency.
On Tuesday, an article by Xi on unity and hard work was published in this year's 13th issue of the Qiushi Journal, a flagship magazine of the CPC Central Committee. Strength comes from unity and happiness arises from hard work, the article notes, adding that all the achievements made by the Party and the people are attributed to unity and hard work.
On the new journey, Chinese modernization calls for strengthened unity and diligence, the article says, describing Chinese modernization as a great cause that involves all Chinese people, one that is full of risks and challenges and demands arduous efforts.
"On our path forward, major struggles will be inevitable. Confronted with encirclement, containment and suppression, we must fight back with confidence and rightful determination," the article says.
The article emphasizes the need to carry forward the fighting spirit, stay focused on the right direction, understand the laws of struggle, and strengthen the ability to engage in it. "As long as the entire nation stays united under the Party's leadership, dares to struggle, and excels at struggle, we will surely overcome all difficulties and challenges on the road ahead," the article notes.
On the 104th anniversary of the Party's founding, emphasizing unity and dedication is crucial for uniting Party members and national strength and maintaining strategic focus amid global turbulence, ensuring steady progress in the great cause of Chinese modernization, analysts said.
The CPC has always stood at the forefront of the times, shouldered historic responsibilities and remained the pillar of the Chinese nation. Achieving national rejuvenation requires unwavering CPC leadership. As the world faces unprecedented changes, it is more essential than ever to uphold and strengthen the Party's leadership, Su Wei, a professor at the Party School of the CPC Chongqing Municipal Committee, told the Global Times on Tuesday.
With its membership exceeding 100 million and as it celebrates its 104th anniversary, this is also an opportunity to reflect on the Party's journey and maintain and develop its vitality, said the expert.
On Tuesday, immersive activities in Ruijin, Jiangxi Province, Shexian in Anhui Province, Tieli, Heilongjiang Province and Qianjiang, Hubei Province were organized, allowing Party members and the public to draw strength from revolutionary relics and stories carrying forward the Party's legacy. In factories and workshops in Changde, Hunan Province, in the forests of Shidian, Yunnan and in the Xizang Autonomous Region, new and veteran Party members solemnly pledged allegiance to the Party under the Party flag, renewing their vows and strengthening their convictions, CCTV News reported.
On Monday morning, Global Times reporters saw visitors with reservations queuing in an orderly fashion to enter the Museum of the Communist Party of China (CPC) in Beijing. Many groups from different organizations were there for Party-building activities, with most visitors carrying Party flags as they visited the exhibitions. Many parents had brought their children to learn about this history and receive patriotic education.
At 8 am on Tuesday, a special event titled "Songs Dedicated to the Party" was held at the Memorial Hall of the First National Congress of the Communist Party of China in Shanghai to mark the anniversary. The grand celebration featured a variety of activities, including a 100-person choir performance, a dramatic poetry recitation, the donation of precious cultural relics, a "City Walk" red tour, and an original immersive Party-themed class, the Global Times learned from the memorial hall.
In Northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region on Tuesday, police officers and border guards in Biedieli border station welcomed a group of children who came from Aksu Prefecture. Rouzi Sadike, a border guard and Party member, shared with them the story of his family patrolling the border since his grandfather's time. As he prepares to retire, his son will continue the mission of safeguarding every inch of the motherland.
Wang Fuli, a deputy director of the station, said they organized the event on the day of the 104th anniversary of the Party's founding to both inspire their team of Party members and to encourage their children and future generations to inherit and carry forward the important tasks of guarding the border and promoting prosperity in border areas.
Maintain vitality
While presiding over the group study session of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee on Monday, Xi also underscored efforts to advance full, rigorous Party self-governance through forging good conduct, according to Xinhua.
Xi noted that the eight-point rules are the Party's landmark measure in the new era to exercise self-governance. He said since the 18th CPC National Congress in 2012, the CPC Central Committee has upheld strict rules and strong constraints, focused on rectifying undesirable work styles - unnecessary formalities, bureaucracy, hedonism and extravagance - through education campaigns and a series of rectification actions.
These efforts have improved the overall effectiveness of Party governance and gathered tremendous positive energy for the development of the Party and the country's cause, Xi said.
Xi emphasized that advancing Chinese modernization is a formidable task, and the Party faces an exceptionally complex governance environment, making it all the more necessary to maintain a heightened sense of self-reform.
Su said that emphasizing strict Party governance on the occasion of the 104th anniversary of the Party's founding is vital, as it combines long-term discipline with the momentum of a key milestone to reinvigorate efforts. By uniting universal requirements with the special significance of this occasion, we can advance Party-building to new heights, ensure the Party's lasting vitality and purity, and provide strong political support for national rejuvenation, Su said.
The key to the Party's enduring vitality and strength lies in its commitment to self-reform. This is essential to maintaining the Party's advancement and purity, and ensuring the success of our modernization efforts, said the expert.
Chinese modernization is a socialist modernization pursued under the leadership of the CPC. "Only by remaining clear-headed and resolute in addressing the unique challenges of a large ruling party, and by building the Party to be stronger and more effective, can we ensure that Chinese modernization proceeds steadily and sustainably," said the expert.
