The Southern California Pulmonary & Sleep Disorders Medical Center has announced a refreshed inventory of Bongo RX therapy devices to treat mild to moderate Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA) as part of its range of sleep disorder therapies. The FDA-cleared device offers patients a discrete, portable treatment option that doesn’t require a machine, humidifier, hose, batteries, or an electrical outlet.

The Bongo RX’s soft silicone nasal pillows fit snugly inside the nasal openings to form a secure seal. When the user inhales, small valves in the device open and allow the user to breathe comfortably. Upon exhalation, the valves close, directing exhaled air through vent holes to generate expiratory positive airway pressure (EPAP), keeping the airway clear until the next inhalation and reducing the effects of OSA).

“Your health is far too important to live with untreated OSA,” a center spokesperson said. “That’s why we’ve introduced the Bongo RX. It’s designed to be readily available to you every time you fall asleep. It’s easy to breathe with, comfortable, and reusable.”

The Bongo RX sleep apnea therapy device is suitable for OSA patients who are non-compliant with Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (CPAP) treatments and who are looking for a more effective, comfortable option. It may also serve as a supplement to CPAP to be used during travel, camping, or in places without electricity.

The device comes in four sizes, included in a starter kit that patients can purchase to sample different options. The center advises patients to take their time testing all four sizes before making a final decision. Additionally, the starter kit provider is available to assist in selecting the most suitable size.

The Southern California Pulmonary & Sleep Disorders Medical Center was founded by Dr. Ronald A. Popper, a Board-Certified specialist in Sleep Disorders Medicine and a pioneer in sleep medicine. In 1984, he established the center as the first non-hospital, non-university sleep facility to be accredited by the American Academy of Sleep Medicine. He has lectured extensively on sleep disorders and obstructive sleep apnea, advocating for proper diagnosis and treatment.

“Dr. Popper has a well-organized practice with the latest best practices,” one satisfied patient said. “I enjoyed the first visit because he was prepared and informed of my sleep issues. His office staff were also extremely kind and patient.”
