Castle Rock, CO Outdoor Summer Camp For Kids 6 To 11: Registration Announced
Parents can now pre-register their child for the recently announced summer education program, which will run from the week of June 2 to the week of July 28. The outdoor camp doubles as a full-day childcare program, providing busy parents with the opportunity to allow their children to experience the outdoors under the supervision of trained facilitators.

With electronics becoming an integral component of daily life, young children are spending an increasing amount of time on screens, and experts say that this may impact their health, academics, and socioemotional learning. According to the American Academy of Child & Adolescent Psychiatry, excessive screen time can lead to sleep problems, lower grades in school, inadequate outdoor or physical activity, mood problems, and missed opportunities for social interaction and learning, which can result in delayed development in language and social skills.
However, parents can prevent these issues by actively encouraging their children to take part in sports, music, art, and outdoor activities. The latter can be achieved with Balance Adventure Camp’s summer camp, a nature-based education program that prioritizes screen-free outdoor learning and facilitates interaction between peers.
Balance Adventure Camp educates children through the L.E.A.F. (Leadership, Exploration, Adventure, and Friendship) Method, providing them with hands-on experience, personal growth challenges, and the opportunity to form lasting friendships. The main goal of the program is to help participants reduce their dependence on electronics, build confidence, and develop real-world skills. Children will participate in supervised camp activities such as hiking, fishing, scavenger hunts, arts and crafts, herbal walks, and bird watching; they will also learn about outdoor survival techniques, fire safety, and how to identify plant species.
“Our summer education program is designed to get kids outside, unplugged from their devices, and plugged into Mother Nature,” says Monica Ballon, owner of Balance Adventure Camp. “Our intention is to create a supportive, safe, and fun learning environment for your children to have the best summer ever.”
The program will be facilitated by Ballon and camp director Anna Morgan, a certified Wilderness First Responder and First Aid CPR Educator. Participating children will be picked up from specific meeting spots and transported to designated outdoor locations.
