PROSTAID Calgary has served the Calgary area for over 30 years and continues its mission to help patients and families through monthly gatherings that feature presentations from health specialists. The recently announced meetings provide time for men to share their experiences and connect with others walking a similar path.

PROSTAID Calgary meets on the third Wednesday of each month. Attendance is free and requires no advance registration. Those interested can simply show up and expect a warm welcome from fellow members and volunteers.

Beyond the general monthly meeting, PROSTAID Calgary runs two specialized groups. The Warriors group serves members dealing with advanced prostate cancer, focusing on networking, knowledge sharing, and new developments in testing and treatment. The Wives and Caregivers group provides an informal gathering space for partners and family members affected by a loved one’s diagnosis.

“Our objective is to assist and support patients, families, and friends by informing, empathizing, and reassuring men on their journey with prostate cancer,” a spokesperson for the organization said. “By sharing our experiences with our own cancer, we lift our spirits and strengthen our resolve to fight for quality of life and a cure.”

The organization relies entirely on private contributions to sustain its initiatives, which include the monthly meetings, the website, and a monthly journal called The Digital Examiner. This publication currently reaches over 1,300 subscribers and covers the latest developments in prostate cancer research and support.

All monthly meetings are filmed and archived online for members who cannot attend in person. Meeting reminders go out through The Digital Examiner, which is available through free subscription. For those who prefer to attend in person, meetings are held at CKE Community Centre, 1015 73 Ave SW, Calgary, AB.

PROSTAID Calgary does not give medical advice or recommend specific treatments. The organization encourages members to consult qualified healthcare professionals before making medical decisions.
