Morriston UK Personal Training For Beginners By Accredited S&C Coaches Announced

Swansea Strength & Conditioning is now offering personal training to Morriston residents as part of a New Year initiative to help locals achieve their fitness goals safely under qualified guidance. The expansion comes as the gym warns of rising injury risks from attempting popular workout programmes without proper instruction.

A 2019 study by Rutgers University researchers found that participants in popular fitness regimens, particularly high-intensity interval training, face elevated injury risks, especially to the knees and shoulders. The study also found that the risk increases significantly for those exercising without supervision, where poor form and muscle overuse become major concerns.
A spokesperson from Swansea Strength & Conditioning explained that many newcomers to fitness are influenced by social media personalities promoting trendy workout routines that are not appropriate for beginners. “A DIY approach to fitness only works if you know what you’re doing. When you’re starting out, the ideal approach is to find a qualified instructor who can teach and check proper form, so you can avoid injuries, which can set back your progress at best and can be life-altering at worst.”
The company’s personal training services go beyond basic workout instruction. Accredited strength and conditioning (S&C) coaches conduct comprehensive lifestyle assessments and recommend holistic changes to support each client’s fitness journey, including nutritional guidance and exercise modifications for those with movement limitations or physical restrictions.
Programmes are customised to fit individual schedules and fitness objectives, with sessions available weekly or fortnightly. Coaches also provide guidance on exercises clients can safely perform independently between supervised sessions.
“Beyond instruction, trainers offer encouragement and accountability, helping participants stay focused and make measurable progress,” the spokesperson added.
Leading the coaching team is Liam Capener-Jones, a sport and exercise scientist with an MSc in Strength & Conditioning and accreditation from the UK Strength & Conditioning Association. The coaching team also includes resident nutritionist Hannah Baugh, who holds a BSc in Sports Biomedicine and Nutrition.
In addition to one-on-one training, Swansea Strength & Conditioning offers group training sessions and injury rehabilitation programmes for clients returning to active lifestyles after setbacks.
